I Went To The Woods…
Some paths are straight, but mine is a winding road. I’ve lived in several cities, but I recently had the opportunity to start anew and purchased a property in a very rural area of North Carolina. I had never been to this part of the United States and I’ve never owned so much property. I have always loved nature, but I never thought I would live deep in the wooded areas of my own forest. If some part of our DNA and human psyche is rooted in a life close to nature, then I am a case study. Nature has brought me back to life, back to reality, and helped me find myself.
Every morning, I wake up, walk outside, and marvel and this beautiful place that I call home. There is never one moment that I am not aware that I am away from the city and living deep in the woods with the vegetation, wildlife, and magnificent trees that make up the North Carolina woodlands. This is a rural place. If you’re not in the woods, then you are standing at the crossroads of a 100+ acre farm. It is a most special place to live.
Nature is my teacher, and the lessons she brings are deep and relevant. My hope in starting this blog is to share some of nature’s wisdom with you. I want to remind you that nature is not some place you just visit; it is your birthplace and your birthright. She is what you’ve been searching for and where to find it.
Welcome to this humble blog that memorializes my personal journey from the city streets into the heart of rural America. Please join me on this wonderful journey away from modern life and experience beauty, awe, and adventure that awaits when you are ready to venture…into the woods.
